DG’s word

The CIF (Cameroon Investment Forum) is a major event which aims to boost Cameroon’s economy. Through its strong participation, the CIF illustrates the strong connection between Cameroon and the global business community.

The CIF History

CIF 2015

CIF 2017

Over 200 local and foreign companies participated in the second edition of the Cameroon Investment Forum (CIF), which took place from November 9th to 10th, 2017, at the Maison du Parti de Bonanjo in Douala. The event was under the Very Distinguished Patronage of the President of the Republic of Cameroon and the Premiership of the Prime Minister, Head of Government. The forum theme was “Connecting promoters of investment projects and technical and financial partners to promote the local industry and attract investment”. It was a critical moment for the partners of the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) as it provided an opportunity for high-level exchanges between national and international players interested in investment and financing issues. The forum focused on the industry’s contribution to accelerating growth and economic development in Cameroon.

More details

The meetings presented a genuine give-and-take event, which allowed participants to discuss business opportunities in line with Cameroon’s Industrial Master Plan (IMP), validated in December 2016. During the meetings, participants formulated concrete and operational proposals and conditions for boosting investment attractiveness to Cameroon in the context of the apparent revitalization of regional integration and the gradual opening up of the national market following the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The meetings aimed to improve the implementation of Cameroon’s investment promotion policy in the short, medium and long term. They also provided an opportunity to discuss issues related to attracting investment to Cameroon, promoting local industry and identifying solutions for improving investment inflow.

CIF 2019

The third edition of Cameroon Investment Forum (CIF) took place on November 27th, 28th and 29th, 2019 in Douala at Maison du Parti in Bonanjo. It was held under the Very Distinguished Patronage of the President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul Biya. The event was attended by the representative of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Mr. Gabriel Dodo Ndoke, Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT), as well as several members of the Government. The business and economic communities also participated in the event.

More details

CIF 2019, had as main theme “Industrialization through import-substitution”. Beyond the high-level exchanges that took place during the three days brainstorm on how to reduce Cameroon’s balance of trade through the development of local production and the promotion of competitiveness in strategic agricultural sectors, notably maize, rice and aquaculture, the Forum brought together over 250 local and foreign companies, and had the merit of bringing together and involving an array of major national and international players interested in investment and financing issues.

The CIF 2019 was thus an opportunity to federate thoughts on a range of issues linked to attracting investment to Cameroon, promoting the local industry and identifying concerted and relevant solutions to increase the flow of investment into Cameroon. The progress achieved during the Forum enabled the IPA to establish suitable channels for connecting local and foreign investors with identified investment projects. This will help to enhance Cameroon’s position as a preferred investment destination with low risk in Central Africa, specifically within the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

INTRODUCING CIF 2023

The upcoming edition of the CIF will have a similar focus to the third edition held in 2019. The event aims to (i) showcase to both national and foreign investors that Cameroon is a great destination with a plethora of investment opportunities, (ii) encourage investors to participate in the development of Cameroon by taking advantage of the available opportunities, and (iii) seek support from investors in addressing Cameroon’s trade balance deficit.
